Enjoy the opportunity to refresh your mind during relaxing weekend retreats in the inspiring environment of Tharpaland KMC.

These weekend retreats introduce simple meditation techniques that help us to develop peace of mind. The sessions include practical advice on how to maintain the experience of inner peace in daily life. Additionally, the relaxed schedule allows plenty of time to explore the beautiful grounds with woodland walks. We look forward to welcoming you and hope you go home feeling relaxed and nourished.

The retreats are held in the meditation room inside the Sommerswalde castle.

A range of comfortable accomodation is available and meals and course fees are included within the cost.

Relax and recharge

  15 – 17 Nov

Time for you! Enjoy a relaxing weekend in the middle of nature, in the quiet and beautiful castle of Sommerswalde. After a vegetarian supper we start with a guided relaxation meditation. The Buddhist meditations presented here are simple but effective and they will help you to connect with your potential of inner peace. Through meditation, you can learn to let go the exhausting mental pressure, relax on a deeper level, and recharge your batteries. The perfect start of a new week!

Introduction:

Timetable Saturday:

  1. Session:  9:00 – 10:30 Uhr
  2. Session: 11:30 – 13:00 Uhr
  3. Session: 16:00 – 17:30 Uhr
  4. Session: 19:00 – 20:30 Uhr

Timetable Sunday:

  1. Session:  9:00 – 10:30 Uhr
  2. Session: 11:30 – 13:00 Uhr

During the breaks, each retreater helps with small jobs and there is plenty of time for walks in the beautiful surroundings of Tharpaland KMC.

Silence:
During the retreat there will be no speaking in the morning.

Languages:
The retreat will be held in German and translated into English if requested. Please let us know in the registration form if you need a translation.

Help us:
The Tharpaland KMC is a non-profit Buddhist charity. The meditation center and all courses are run by a few volunteers. Therefore it is common during events at Tharpaland KMC for each participant to be invited to help with certain tasks (e.g. chopping vegetables, washing up, tidying up etc.).

Shared Room (4 beds):  137€
Dormitory:  110€ please bring a sleeping bag and towel (pillowcase and fitted sheet are provided).

This weekend begins on Friday evening at 6.00pm with supper. You can come early at 4.30pm to register and settle in. The weekend ends on Sunday afternoon after lunch around 2pm.

Gen Kelsang Repa has been a teacher at the Kadampa Meditation Center Stuttgart since 2001. She has been a student of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso for many years and has been a Buddhist nun since 1996. She is highly appreciated for her deep understanding of the Buddhist teachings, her lively and descriptive teaching and her good example.

Kelsang Trinlay comes from Vietnam and grew up in Germany. He was ordained a Buddhist monk in 1995 and is a longtime student of Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche. He is currently an assistant teacher at the Tharpaland Kadampa Meditation Center, participates in the Special Teacher Training Program (STTP), and teaches the basic and general programs in Oranienburg (tuesdays) and Sommerswald Castle (wednesdays).

Learn to meditate

This course offers you the opportunity to learn the basics of meditation and successfully start your own meditation practice. Meditation is the way to find inner peace and relax physically and mentally. Training in meditation has huge benefits: you learn to direct your thoughts in a positive direction and to let go more easily negative thoughts and feelings. It benefits all aspects of your life, such as your health and relationships.

In this course you will learn preparatory and actual meditations. They are buddhist meditations but can easily be practiced by everyone and have a great effect on positively influencing one’s life. The course takes place in the temple area of the Tharpaland Kadampa Meditation Center in a pleasant atmosphere. Previous knowledge is not required. Everyone is welcome!

Gen Kelsang Ananda is the Resident Teacher of Tharpaland Kadampa Meditation Center (Tharpaland KMC) near Berlin. He is a modern Buddhist monk and very experienced teacher of the New Kadampa Tradition and has been engaged in the study and practice of Kadampa Buddhism for 23 years under the guidance of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche. He is also Resident Teacher at the Kadampa Meditation Center Berlin and National Spiritual Director of the New Kadampa Tradition in Germany.

Gen Ananda has many years of experience in teaching Buddha’s teachings of Sutra and Tantra He is known for his good heart, deep practical understanding and accessibility.
