The Blissful Path to Keajra Heaven
Vajrayogini Close Retreat &
The Uncommon Yoga of Inconceivability
29 December 2018 – 26 March 2019
Annual three month Silent Retreat at Tharpaland IRC guided by Gen Kelsang Devi
The Snows Retreat is an extraordinary opportunity each year to engage in concentrated meditation practice under ideal retreat conditions for a substantial period of time. Retreat helps us to bring our intellectual understanding of Buddha’s teachings into our heart. It closes the gap between our mind and Dharma, allowing us to gain deep experience and realisations of our objects of meditation.
One of the most conducive conditions of Snows Retreat is the practice of observing silence. This silent verbal retreat boundary allows the mind to become more silent, very peaceful and concentrated in a relatively short period of time and enables a far greater degree of control over distractions and delusions. Contrary to common misunderstandings, this silence is not about disconnecting from others but actually enhancing our sense of connection to others as well as to our pure potential within our self. In this way a temporary period of silence is very beneficial and our verbal retreat greatly accelerates our spiritual development.
This blissful journey will begin with an auspicious blessing empowerment of Buddha Prajnaparamita with Gen Devi on Sunday 30th December 2018.
Our 20th Snows Retreat at Tharpaland will commence with a Vajrayogini close retreat of numbers, which is a short close retreat of actions reciting the three-OM mantra x100,000, while emphasising Generation Stage practice (approx 6 weeks).
Although this is a wonderful opportunity to engage in a Vajrayogini counting retreat, it is also possible to use this precious time to focus mainly on the eleven yogas of generation stage instead, as will be explained within the retreat. Enjoying the freedom to therefore train in deepening familiarity and concentration on self generation practice in the context of Quick Path to Great Bliss sadhana within this blessed retreat environment.
After concluding with a fire puja in mid-February, we will then continue with the Vajrayogini practice of The Uncommon Yoga of Inconceivability based on Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso’s transmission and commentary (approx 6 weeks). This training in superior transference of consciousness has inconceivable meaning. Take the blessings of this powerful practice deep into your heart under skilful guidance and in ideal retreat conditions. Simple yet immensely powerful, these practices and meditations open the door to the pure land of Vajrayogini, Keajra Heaven.
“It is said in the Condensed Root Tantra of Heruka that the benefits to be gained from engaging in the practice of Vajrayogini are limitless and that a thousand voices could never fully enumerate them.”
The New Guide to Dakini Land ~ Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche
It is of course recommended to engage in the whole three month retreat but it is also possible to attend part (eg the first 6 weeks) of this precious retreat and gain immense benefit from the transformative power of this blissful journey.
Unfortunately due to the nature of this silent retreat it is not possible to attend the second half without attending the first half of this retreat.
Although this retreat is guided as a whole, not every session is guided. Some sessions will be self guided to enable practitioners to deepen their own experience and confidence in meditation.
