Concentration: a weekend course on developing concentration

*Waiting list only*

Tharpaland, Dumfries

Within Buddhist practice, the development of virtuous concentration is understood to be a vital part of the spiritual path. The experience of peace of mind, lasting happiness and human freedom, as well as all of the essential spiritual realizations that lead to liberation and enlightenment, depend on the development of concentration.

Tharpaland provides ideal conditions for developing concentration in meditative retreat, and is renowned worldwide as a highly qualified retreat centre.

This weekend course is the first in a 3-part training programme of developing concentration in daily life. It will be followed by a 2-month programme of training in concentration in daily practice at home for at least 15 minutes per day. This will be followed by a 3-4 day tranquil abiding retreat at Tharpaland IRC.

Participation in the concluding retreat of this programme will be conditional upon attendance at the weekend course and participation in the 2-month training period in daily practice. Home-study will not be available for those unable to attend this weekend course.
