20 – 30 October
Avalokiteshvara – the Buddha of Compassion
Healing from The Heart – 10 Day Retreat
guided silent retreat with Gen Kelsang Devi
During this 10 day silent retreat we have the wonderful opportunity to take to heart and deepen our experience of the essential practices of training the mind (Lojong) in ideal retreat conditions. This guided retreat will be based on commentary from Gen-la Dekyong at Fall Festival and Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche’s book, Universal Compassion.
The practices of training the mind are exceptionally powerful methods for overcoming our delusions, especially our self-cherishing, and for gaining deep realizations of conventional and ultimate bodhichitta. In this way, we can heal our pain and solve our own and others problems and ultimately attain the real meaning of our human life – enlightenment.
Although this retreat is guided as a whole, not every session is guided. Some sessions will be self guided to enable practitioners to deepen their own experience and confidence in meditation.
“Just as every part of a medicinal tree – the roots, trunk, branches, leaves, flowers, and fruit – provides medicine and is useful in curing disease, so every part of the instructions on training the mind can cure the mental disease of the delusions. Ordinary medicines can cure only physical disease, but the panacea of training the mind cures sicknesses of both body and mind.”
